True Americana with a Twist
Catching a bite of true Americana will be everything but "same 'ole, same'ole" here in Marana. A long-time "morning after the party" tradition, the Crying Onion is one of those great, no-frills, comfortably satisfying American breakfast joints you can really sink your fork into. Cattleman's Cafe at the Marana Stockyards is a piece of living history (with dang good grub) in a big red barn. On site at the only active stockyard in Southern Arizona, the decor of this favored breakfast and lunch spot pays homage to the western tradition that feeds America - cattle ranching. At Cattleman's, plates like Cow Poke Special featuring grilled steak topped with green chili and jalapenos or the regulars' favorite hamburger steak never disappoint. Take bird-watching to a new level by enjoying some traditional cafe fare at the Sky Rider Coffee Shop at Marana Regional Airport. Revered among frequent fliers as the best airport restaurant in the Southwest, hand-pressed burgers and made-to-order omelets are served with bottomless cups of Joe all day long.

Arriba, Arriba! Uno Mas Por Favor!
Being located less than 100 miles from the Mexico border allows Marana a plethora of benefits. One of our favorite perks has become recognized as our signature regional cuisine, Sonoran-style Mexican food. Nana's Kitchen Authentic Mexican Kitchen serves up northern Mexican dishes developed, perfected and served by Nana's family for their restaurant south of the border in Agua Prieta. Since 2007, Nana has served her authentic creations for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in Marana. Here you'll find the usual suspects like burritos and tostadas along with some savory surprises like crispy patty tacos and the Nana-banana chimi! La Olla Mexican Cafe always delivers on their promise to provide Sonoran classic delicacies with their signature twist and impeccable service. Guests will find themselves fantasizing about the deep fried tacos, chile relleno, or Nachos La Olla long after the taste of their freshly made salsa has been washed down with a house-specialty margarita. If you're up for a challenge, take on the El Grandote - the "biggest, baddest taco in all of Mexico" packed with seasoned beef, chipotle chicken, avocado, jalapenos, rice, beans and more! Good luck with that! Bucking tradition yet embracing and honoring Sonoran culinary influence, Lo Esencial (the basics) offers a mouthwatering, chic take on Mexican fare in a casually refined setting. Start the Lo Esencial adventure with some avocado fries, hold on to your sombrero while devouring the Buffalo Chicken taco, and round things out (if you've got room) with the Churros with chocolate sauce. Do not miss the killer calabacitas side dish!
Drinking in the views and whetting your appetite for adventure is thirsty work. Fortunately there are a number of amazing watering holes in Marana to ensure our visitors stay hydrated, caffeinated, and maybe a little intoxicated with a variety of beverages. Teacher, entrepreneur, and coffee hobbyist Burc Maruflu opened the doors of the Marana's Savaya Coffee Market in 2009 to share his years of study and experience in blending, roasting, and brewing a super-refined cup of Joe to Marana locals and visitors. Maruflu searches the world for those beautiful little beans, roasts them right here in the region, and offers an uber-fun and comfortable social setting in which to enjoy the coffee they produce. If a less "stimulating" swig is what you're after, grab an insanely amazing Boba drink at either Marana location of Miss Saigon. With the option to select from four liquid bases and 24 flavors, it will take a while to sample every possible version of this texturally confounding, palate-pleasing drink. Raise a glass of 'hand-crafted bike fuel' at Marana's first microbrewery, Catalina Brewing Company. The 'nanobrewery' offers a variety of beers crafted from local ingredients with Arizona palates in mind. Situated just 200 yards from The Loop bike path, Catalina Brewing Company offers indoor bike parking discounts for riders' first beers! Cyclist or not, brews like the Mesquite Smoked Pecan Dopplebock, the La Rosa, and Scottish inspired Teachers Aid will have you calling for more! If you order your drinks with a side of sports action and entertainment, Home Plate Marana is the perfect spot. Here guests can enjoy a wide variety of soft drinks, regional brews, and professionally crafted bar foods. Catch just about every University of Arizona sporting event on the tube, sharpen billiards skills in the pool room, or channel your inner-Babe Ruth in the patio batting cages – all while drinking your (reasonable and prudent) fill of soft drinks, any of 46 available tap or bottled brews, or traditional and specialty cocktails.
Find the Far East in the West
Sushi in the desert? Sounds crazy, but the only crazy thing would be to not enjoy this tasty Japanese delicacy in Marana. Sushi Cortaro brings the artistry of Sushi to the Sonoran desert. Enjoy fresh, glistening Nigiri or any of a long list of traditional and specialty rolls in their casual dining area or at the bar. For those not into the oldest "raw food" movement on the planet, a nice menu of noodles and other cooked items is available. The region's most recognized name in Viatnamese food boasts two Marana locations and also promises some killer Thai dishes. Miss Saigon Bar & Grill serves phenomenal Pho (pronounced "fa") and to-die-for Pad Thai. Their plentiful and artfully prepared vegetarian options will have a carnivore rethinking life choices at the end of the meal! Under no circumstances should any diner leave Miss Saigon without indulging in a Boba drink. With so many options, it's almost a project to select exactly which to have, but those little balls of deliciousness and their accompanying pool of flavors will leave you ordering another to go. Worth another mention is the fact that Ignite Lobby Bar at the Ritz Carlton, Dove Mountain features live music and a full Sushi bar complete with Sake service every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evening.
Whatever your mood, taste, or time constraints, Marana's growing menu of dining options ensures no visitor will leave hungry. The only ones who won't find food to love are those who don't love food. We'll keep the table set and lights on to serve up some memorable meals in Marana, the Gateway to Southern Arizona.
