During the cooler months, we love our winter visitors, but come June, many of them have departed for more temperate climes. Around the same time, the students from Southern Arizona’s local universities have also headed out for the summer vacation. Summer is when we welcome our neighbors from the North -- Phoenix! We know you have it even hotter and we want to make it as easy as possible for you to find cooler ways to enjoy summer. In Marana, we embrace summer! When the thermometer ticks above 100°F, we’re in our element. We’re proud of our strength, because we know these temperatures aren’t for everyone, but they are for us.
Part of embracing the summer is knowing where to cool off. Marana offers all kinds of ways to take a dip. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing day by the pool or exciting adventures plummeting down waterslides, you’ll find your perfect swimming spot in Marana.
Is pulling up a lounge chair beside the pool and sipping on something cold more your speed? Then we’ve got exactly what you’re looking for. For Kids and Adults: Splashy Good Times at the Ora Mae Harn Park Pool
The Town of Marana knows how to throw a party, as anyone who’s been to the Star Spangled Spectacular can attest. Fortunately, you can enjoy their events all summer long. One series you won’t want to miss are the Dive-In Movies, when the Town’s Parks and Recreation department inflates a buoyant big screen at Ora Mae Harn Park Pool. On June 16, at 7:45 p.m. Despicable Me 3 will be playing, and on July 21, at 7:45 p.m. enjoy watching The Last Jedi.
That’s not all the Town has going on at the pool, though. From May 31 to August 1, the pool is hosting open swim Monday through Saturday, 1-5 pm (closed July 4th). In addition, it is open for lap swim on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11:30 am-12:30pm. Marana is also offering a variety of programs at the pool throughout the summer, including Aqua Zumba on Friday evenings, YMCA swim lessons for kids ages 5-12 on Monday through Thursday, and water aerobics for 50+ adults on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. No matter your age or interest, the Ora Mae Harn Park Pool has something for you.
Marana is a Town for all seasons, even summer. As temperatures climb, that just means that it’s time to go find a relaxing body of water to go dunk yourself, and in Marana, you’ll find no shortage of delightful pools, water slides, and splash pads. This summer, it’s time to embrace the heat and get outdoors. Discover your oasis when you Discover Marana.
