One of the World’s Largest Agate Collections on Display at Exclusive Gem Show in Marana
Known as the “Home of the Doers and Diggers", the Miner's Co-Op is Marana's very own hidden gem!
MARANA, Arizona — One of the world’s largest agate collections is on display in Marana during this year’s Miner’s Co-Op Rock Show, held at Sports Park Tucson. The show is free and open to the public daily from January 30 through February 15, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Agate is a stunning and colorful variety of quartz known for its distinctive bands and patterns. Formed over millions of years inside rock, each piece is one-of-a-kind and valued for its use in jewelry and decorative displays.
Known as the “Home of the Doers and Diggers,” the Miner’s Co-Op Rock Show features vendors who mine or personally source the gems and minerals they sell. Visitors can browse extensive selections of gemstones, rocks, minerals, fossils, jewelry and other geological finds from around the world, offered by dozens of knowledgeable vendors.
“I don’t have a vendor here who is hired by someone else,” said show owner Sunny Davis. “Everything here is something the vendors have either mined themselves or made. We have some of the coolest rocks, crystals, slabs and even an actual sphere maker.”
New this year, attendees can explore Bigfoot’s Cabin, a unique display featuring specialized paintings created on rocks. The family-friendly event also includes free daily giveaways for kids, free parking and a daily food truck on site from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“The word I would use is passion,” said Jim Bushnell, owner of Pyramid Peak Gems. “The people here have a real connection to what they do. It’s truly our life’s work.”
Miner’s Co-Op Tips:
Bring cash. Many vendors accept credit or debit cards, but several do not, and there are no ATMs on site.
Plan to spend several hours exploring the show’s expansive collections.
The event is pet-friendly.
Admission and parking are free.
