Run For The Wall
An annual honorary motorcycle ride that honors fallen veterans and passes through Marana!
Run For The Wall (RFTW) is a nationally-organized and recognized cross-country motorcycle ride that honors United States Veterans and their families and friends and raises awareness for those still Missing in Action (MIA) or Prisoners of War (POW).
The annual ride, or "run" ( like motorcyclists like to call it) starts in Ontario, California, and ends ten days later at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. on Memorial Day.
“They were carrying flags, and looked like Vietnam vets -maybe,” Hal Horrigan shared. “And they all were, as I am. So I told them to come on over to my parking lot and take a break, and I'll get you something to eat and something to drink.”
After chatting for a couple of hours in his parking lot, Hal was able to hear more about their ride all the way east to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington , D.C.
“They started stopping in every year after that,” he said.
What was just a handful of riders in the 90s, Hal has witnessed it grow over the years, with over 370 motorcyclists stopping in Marana during 2025's ride.
“These people all come back and say a lot of small towns in the United States are really patriotic, they get a good turnout, and it makes them feel really good,” Horrigan shared. “It is a serious effort, and not everyone can do it.”
Who can get involved?
Ranging from eighty years old to eight years old, riders of all ages have hopped on the journey according to Hal Horrigan, and you don’t have to be a veteran to join the ride; you just have to register.
